Donald J. Bivacca is currently the Tennessee President for AARP, and also the CEO of HMP Senior Solutions, providing innovative solutions to today’s challenges in senior living communities. He has over 35 years of leadership experience in all healthcare-related organizations and senior care settings, including nursing homes, assisted-living facilities, physician practices, outpatient centers and hospitals. He has served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer of individual facilities and multi-site, multi-location facilities nationally.
 
Under his current leadership, HMP Senior Solutions provides management and oversight of nursing homes, assisted-living communities and other healthcare organizations within the United States. In addition, he serves as a Chief Restructuring Officer for financially challenged healthcare organizations.

“Forgotten Victims No More: Putting Elder
Abuse in the Spotlight”

Newly retired Deputy District Attorney Paul Greenwood was a lawyer in England for 13 years. After relocating to San Diego in 1991 he passed the California Bar and joined the DA's office in 1993. For 22 years Paul headed up the Elder Abuse Prosecution Unit at the San Diego DA’s Office. In 1999 California Lawyer magazine named Paul as one of their top 20 lawyers of the year in recognition of his pioneering efforts to pursue justice on behalf of senior citizens.

He has prosecuted over 750 felony cases of both physical, sexual, emotional and financial elder abuse. He has also prosecuted 10 murder cases, including one death penalty case.
In March 2018 Paul retired from the San Diego DA’s office to concentrate on sharing lessons learned from his elder abuse prosecutions with a wider audience. In October 2018 he was given a lifetime achievement award by his former office.

Paul now spends much of his post retirement time consulting on elder abuse cases and providing training to law enforcement and Adult Protective Services agencies across the country and internationally. He is also involved as the criminal justice board member of National Adult Protective Services Association.

​Dr. Gentzler is the Director of Encore Ministry for the Tennessee Conference of  The United Methodist Church. He is the Former Director (retired) of the Center on Aging and Older Adult Ministry, General Board of Discipleship of the United Methodist Church. He has a BS in Education from Shippensburg University; a MDiv (Master of Divinity) in Parish Ministry from Wesley Theological Seminary; and DMin (Doctor of Ministry) in Pastoral Care and Counseling with the Elderly from Boston University. He also received a certificate in Aging Studies, from the Institute for Geriatric Social Work, Boston University. In addition, Dr. Gentzler serves as the President of the Board of Directors for the Council on Aging of Middle Tennessee. Dr. Gentzler is author of numerous books and hundreds of articles on aging and older adult ministry.  His latest book, An Age of Opportunity: Intentional Older Adult Ministry, was published in 2018.

Ms. Abramson is the Executive Director of the Wisconsin Institute for Healthy Aging, a non-profit organization whose mission is to research and disseminate evidence-based health promotion programs that promote healthy aging.   Betsy is trained as an attorney and spent 25 years in several non-profit organizations in Wisconsin practicing public interest elder law, concentrating on issues of income security, long-term care, elder abuse, elder justice, public benefits, autonomy, elder abuse and domestic violence in later life.  During that time Betsy provide presentations on these issues at local, state and national venues.  Betsy has written and spoken on Ageism at over 20 venues, both in Wisconsin and most recently for the National Council on Aging’s Age+Action virtual conference in June 2020.

  1. Participants will understand the basis of ageism and understand the different type
  2. Participants will understand that scientific studies that have clearly established the extremely    negative impacts of ageism on our health
  3. Participants will learn effective ways to reflect on their own internalized ageism and to address it when imposed by others

“The ‘Art’ of Living Well with Dementia”

Dr. Potts currently serves as a neurologist at the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center.  He is also the Founder and President of Cognitive Dynamics Foundation.  He is a 10-time Patient Choice Award winner and one of America’s Top Physicians.  Dr. Potts holds a BS in biology from Birmingham-Southern College and received his MD from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine.  He completed his internship in internal medicine and was chief resident in neurology at UAB School of Medicine. He is the author of several books, including Neurology for the Boards.
