Serving Older Tennesseans Since 1969

Mission

The purpose of TFA is to strengthen and grow the network of members, organizations, and community partners to enhance the overall lives of aging Tennesseans through education, advocacy, social and professional connections, resources and supports.

Vision

We envision aging Tennesseans have open and ready access to the full network of resources and supports in order to meet their individual needs.

Core Values

PROFESSIONALISM
TFA is an
interoperative network of individuals and organizations committed to transparency, cooperation, and professionalism. All members and activities of TFA adhere to the highest ethical principles and are aimed at elevating the lives of aging Tennesseans.

EDUCATION
Through conferences, webinars, partnerships, and collaborations with like-minded organizations, TFA aims to educate the network of aging professionals, organizations, and general public by bringing together older adults and people who serve them, providing opportunities to learn the needs and contributions of aging Tennesseans.

ADVOCACY
TFA is committed to identifying the
needs of aging Tennesseans and advocating for policies that may fill gaps or eliminate barriers prohibiting access to meet those needs of individuals across the state. Its advocacy efforts are designed to promote access to individuals and the systems that support those individuals.

COMMUNITY
TFA is a vast community of
members, organizations, individuals, partnerships, industries, advocates, educators, and more, who, by working together, fostering open communication, and valuing the transformative impact of collaboration, are able to effect a change for aging Tennesseans. The network of members and partners provides deep and meaningful resources to aging Tennesseans of all means and needs and continues to grow and evolve with the needs of those we serve.

INCLUSIVITY
TFA is committed to all its activities
and membership with a lens of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility. Inclusion in the community of TFA is open and promoted to all individuals and organizations who serve, work with, for, in, and tangential to the needs of aging Tennesseans. We encourage open participation and are committed to the promotion of equity across the network of all those whom TFA serves.

DEFEATING AGEISM
Often ageist language and
practices concentrate on the needs of older adults and imposes powerful barriers to the development of policies and transformative practices that highlight the contributions of older adults. TFA is committed to promoting the value, recognizing the contributions of, and highlighting the positive impact of aging Tennesseans.
